Tain Picture House Restoration

It is exciting to think that people will soon be able to step back through the doors of Tain’s old Picture House, for the first time since cinema tickets cost five bobs, following the latest stage in the building’s restoration.

Tain Picture House

The restoration of Tain Picture House is one of the priorities highlighted through our community engagement events - with ambitious plans to restore it as a cinema, performance venue and community asset.

In partnership with Tain Civic Trust and Tain Heritage Trust, we have been working together to secure funding towards restoring the building back to its former glory into the heart of the community.

Derek Louden, Tain & Easter Ross councillor

Every councillor has a project that they want to see happen, and this is mine. I’ve walked past the building every day for pretty much all of my life and it’s always been boarded up. I know it’s a long project, but it will be great to see this building open and thriving again.

Tain Picture House Project

There are many ways of supporting this project and others which run in partnership with the Tain & District Development Trust.
